Voices and Visions Scholars named “Heroes in the ‘Hood”

SONY DSCOn May 23, 2016, students from Woodlawn Voices and Visions received recognition at the Heroes in the ‘Hood reception for the efforts of young people in our organization to raise awareness of important issues of the day.

The scholars received a first place award on behalf of the organization in the category of Group Teen Hero. Malkolm and Malik Lacey, Oscar Willins, and Zion Offord attended the event. CBS-TV news anchor Dorothy Tucker mentioned the work of the students on films about police brutality and food deserts as among the achievements that had earned the group the nomination and the award.
